Program

Tusome Pamoja provides individualized learning programs for each student, with all instruction grounded in literacy development regardless of subject area.
Students are matched one-on-one with a teen peer mentor or adult volunteer who supports reading, writing, conversation, and academic skill-building.

Our program is intentionally analog and screen-free, creating space for students to engage fully with their mentors, peers, and materials.
Volunteers guide students through provided learning materials and offer real-time feedback so students do not struggle alone or repeat the same mistakes.

We currently serve approximately 35 continuing students, organized into six age-based classes:
Preschool-Kindergarten
Grades 1–2
Grade 3
Grade 4
Grades 5–7
Grades 8–12

Tusome Pamoja offers 22 program days per year including:
Saturday sessions in the fall
Saturday sessions in the spring
A two-week summer program in July
In addition to instructional days, students and mentors participate in community-building activities, field trips, and special events designed to strengthen relationships and foster joy.

Tusome Pamoja is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all participants.
We provide:
Safe environment training and background checks for all adult volunteers
Transportation for students
Healthy meals and snacks at every program day
